ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) is a variation of IVF in which an embryologist injects one sperm directly into a mature egg, rather than mixing eggs and sperm together and letting fertilisation happen on its own.
When is ICSI used?
ICSI is most often recommended when sperm count, movement, or shape is low, or when previous IVF attempts had unexpectedly poor fertilisation.
