TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone)
TSH is a blood test that measures thyroid-stimulating hormone, the pituitary hormone that tells the thyroid how much thyroid hormone to make. A high TSH usually means an underactive thyroid, which can affect ovulation and pregnancy if left untreated.
TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) is made by the pituitary gland and tells the thyroid how much thyroid hormone to produce. A higher-than-normal TSH usually means the thyroid is underactive (hypothyroidism), while a lower-than-normal TSH usually means it is overactive. It is a simple blood test, often one of the first checks done when investigating irregular periods or difficulty conceiving.
