Embryo transfer

Embryo transfer is the step where an embryo is placed into the uterus through the cervix using a thin, soft catheter. It is usually quick and painless and does not need anaesthesia.

Fresh or frozen

A transfer can use a freshly created embryo or a frozen one thawed from an earlier cycle (a frozen embryo transfer). What follows is the two-week wait before a pregnancy test.
