Fertility Decoded

Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. In short: we collect very little, we never sell your data, and we do not run user accounts or store health information about you in this version of the site.

Fertility Decoded ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy describes how we handle personal data when you use fertilitydecoded.org (the "Site"), in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and the DPDP Rules 2025. For the purposes of that law, we act as the Data Fiduciary and you are the Data Principal.

Effective date: 2 July 2026

What we collect

We collect as little as possible.

  • Information you give us. If you contact us (for example by email), we receive what you choose to send, such as your name, email address, and message.
  • Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect basic technical and usage data, such as your device and browser type, approximate location from your IP address, and the pages you visit, through cookies, a privacy-focused analytics service, and standard server logs.

We do not operate user accounts on this version of the Site, we do not ask for or store health or medical information about you, and we do not collect sensitive personal data. Clinic information shown in the directory comes from the public National ART and Surrogacy Registry and is not your personal data.

Why we use your data

We use the limited data above only to respond to your enquiries, operate and improve the Site, keep it secure, and meet legal obligations. We use it for these specific purposes and not for unrelated ones.

Consent and legal basis

Where the law requires consent, we ask for it through a clear notice that explains the specific purpose, and you can withdraw it at any time. Some processing, such as keeping the Site secure and running it reliably, relies on the legitimate uses permitted under the DPDP Act.

Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of cookies to make the Site work and to understand, in aggregate, how it is used, through a privacy-focused analytics service. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings.

Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the Site, acting as our Data Processors under contract. These currently include our hosting and infrastructure providers (Vercel and Supabase) and our analytics provider. We may also disclose data where we are required to by law.

How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as the law requires, and then delete it. In practice, messages you send us are kept for up to 24 months, and technical and analytics data for a shorter period.

How we protect it

We use reasonable security safeguards to protect personal data. If a personal data breach occurs, we will follow the notification requirements under the DPDP Rules, including informing the Data Protection Board and affected individuals as required.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to ask us to correct or complete it, to ask us to erase it, to a grievance redressal process, and to nominate another person to exercise your rights in specified circumstances. To exercise any of these, email us at contact@fertilitydecoded.org.

Children

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Where we become aware that we hold a child's data without the required verifiable parental consent, we will delete it.

Where your data is held

The Site runs on cloud infrastructure (including providers such as Vercel and Supabase) whose servers may be located outside India. Where personal data is transferred or stored outside India, we take reasonable steps to handle it in line with the DPDP Act.

Grievance redressal

If you have a concern about how we handle your data, you can contact our Grievance Officer by email at contact@fertilitydecoded.org, marking your message for the attention of the Grievance Officer. We will acknowledge and address grievances within the timelines required by law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the "effective date" above.
