Fertility Decoded

Your realistic chances of IVF working

Based on published data, not on any clinic's claim.

These numbers come from 91,000 women treated in the UK, tracked all the way to whether a baby was born, the largest study of its kind anywhere. India has no published equivalent yet.

Have you been pregnant before?

Somewhere between 31 and 41 out of 100 would have a live birth

A live birth: A baby taken home. Not a positive pregnancy test.

A complete cycle is one egg collection plus every fresh and frozen transfer that comes from it. Clinics usually quote per transfer, which makes their number look larger.

What AMH does and doesn't tell you

AMH predicts how many eggs you are likely to get, not whether a cycle ends in a baby. The largest externally validated model of live birth after IVF contains no measure of ovarian reserve at all, and still predicts to a useful standard. A low AMH on its own is not a reason to be pushed toward donor eggs.

What this number is not

  • A prediction about you. It's what happened to a large group of women like you.
  • A rating of any clinic. A good lab shifts these odds. It doesn't rewrite them.
  • Data from Indian clinics.

If this is weighing on you, support and crisis resources are there for anyone who wants them.

The range shown reflects the typical spread of answers for details you haven't given yet, not the full range those details could theoretically take, so it doesn't overstate how much a rare combination of answers could move the number.

In the study this model is built on, how long a couple had been trying and whether either partner had been pregnant before were missing for almost everyone, and were estimated from an earlier, smaller group of patients. Two of the eight inputs behind this tool rest on that estimate, including for anyone who leaves those fields blank here.

Endometriosis is not one of the causes this model measures, so it carries no weight of its own. But telling us it's your cause also tells us your cause isn't tubal, male factor, ovulation or unexplained, and that does shift the estimate slightly.
